Fascias, Soffits and Guttering in Richmond

Fascia, soffit and gutter replacement in Richmond

Mascote Renovation & Property Solutions Ltd replaces fascias, soffits and guttering on homes across Richmond, from the streets around Richmond Green to the top of Richmond Hill and the roads beside Richmond Park. For a fascia replacement in Richmond, our own team does all the work, fitting the new fascia boards, the soffits beneath them and the gutters they carry.

Ours is a family run business. It is fully insured, every job is backed by a full guarantee, and roofline inspections and quotes are free.

What the roofline does

The fascia is the long board fixed along the ends of the rafters, just below the lowest row of slates or tiles. It closes off the roof space and carries the guttering. The soffit is the board tucked underneath, between the fascia and the wall of the house.

Together with the gutters and downpipes, these boards take rainwater off the roof and keep it away from the brickwork. When one part fails, water runs down the wall instead, and damp follows.

Signs your roofline needs attention

  • Peeling paint or sagging boards
  • Gutters that overflow or leak
  • Water stains on the walls or under the eaves
  • Downpipes that have come away from the wall
  • Rotting timber below the roof edge

Most of these can be seen from the ground, and they show most clearly in heavy rain. Early attention keeps the work to the roofline itself.

What we fit

The boards we fit are UPVC, for fascias and soffits alike, and new gutters and downpipes go up with them. UPVC needs very little upkeep and is not painted, which makes it the usual choice once old timber has reached the end of its life.

A full replacement is not always needed. Where the rest of the roofline is sound we replace a single length of fascia, repair a soffit, clean and repair the existing gutters, or refix a downpipe. There is more detail on our fascias and guttering page.

Listed buildings and conservation areas

Richmond has many Georgian and Victorian houses, and a large number of them are listed or stand inside a conservation area. If yours is one of them, speak to the planning team at the council before the materials or the look of the roofline are changed, because consent may be needed.

Roofers in Richmond

The same team looks after the rest of the roof. Our roof repairs deal with slates and tiles that have slipped or cracked, lead flashing that has come away, damaged chimney stacks and flat roofs that leak.

When a roof is past repair, we fit a new roof. On Richmond homes that usually means slate or clay tiles on the main roof and GRP fibreglass on flat sections such as bay tops and rear extensions. The old roof comes off, its replacement is built to building regulations, and the site is cleared when we finish.

Many houses in TW9 and TW10 have tall brick chimney stacks. We repoint the brickwork, rebuild stacks that are beyond pointing, fit new pots and cowls, and replace the lead flashing at the foot of the stack.

We also work in the neighbouring areas of Kew, Ham, Petersham and East Sheen.
